Book Review 22
Name Of The Book : Heart Broken Musings
Author : Raunak Agarwal
Publisher : Blue Rose Publishers
Year : 2018
Category : Poetry
Review :
This book is a sarcastic and humorous take on love, life and everything in between expressed through 51 beautiful chapters of relatable quotes, musings and poems. It basically deals with what we humans go through on a day-to-day basis. Moreover, every chapter is accompanied by the author's rant or opinion focused on one single person; You.
The author begins by introducing himself as a unicorn who has been brought back from his death-bed to shower us humans with motivation and to provide a sarcastic viewpoint to tackle love, life and everything in between. I love unicorns but I did not find this reference cute or funny. He calls humans as 'hoomans' which is very annoying. I loved most of the poems but I did not enjoy the rants. He did include a few good points and at times made me laugh but besides that it was not very impressive. The author has tried to be informal and cool with use of internet slangs, but it did not really work for me. Also, at a lot of instances the author tries to promote his book and his self which was completely avoidable. The cover page of the book is very beautiful. Overall, the book was readable but could have been better.
Rating : 3.3/5
