Review :
Pramela is the only daughter of a business tycoon Seth Dina Nath. The book starts from the birth of Pamela and follows her journey through life. She is faced with various life-changing experiences and this moulds her into a different person altogether. She finds a friend to hold her through the difficulties and receives love from the most unexpected person. It is a story that has friendship, love, romance, betrayal, grief, hope, and above all, belief in life and good fortune.
Right from the first page, a lot of words have been explained in brackets. This could have been avoided and a glossary at the end of the book would have been more convenient for those who needed an explanation. As the story proceeds, we can see that certain portions of the book are repetitive and unnecessarily long. I found a lot of grammar, spelling as well as punctuation errors. In a certain portion of the book, a few dialogues by a character tries to justify domestic violence against women and no other character seemed to think otherwise. The protagonist Pramela claims at more than a few instances that she wishes to be independent, but at the next given opportunity, she jumps to claim favours from so-called well-wishers. All the different men in the book fall in love with her personality, but her character seems to lack depth. She is shallow and an opportunist. The character Tarun was found to be a person devoid of self-respect and is portrayed as a person without any flaws. This seems very unrealistic. All the characters are either black or white with the absence of grey areas which is highly unlikely in real life. The plot as well as the characters are superficial and thus we are unable to connect with them emotionally. The style of narration is identical to that of a textbook where facts are presented rather than a story with emotions. The dialogues between the characters are not well-written. The story is also highly predictable and includes every possible cliché that can be incorporated into a love story.
Rating : 2/5
